Undergraduate Study in Information Science & Technologies

The Undergraduate Degree. Go for IST.

The IST undergraduate experience RIT is exciting, collaborative, and relevant to where you want to go in life. Do you want to be a technology problem-solver? A multimedia maven? A database guru?  A medical informatics professional? All this, plus much more is available within IST.

Many of our faculty have roots in the world of industry and business, so you get the benefit of real-world IT experience. Classes are small, and professors are mentors who personally guide you along your learning path. Our faculty know that the industry is driven by what's new, what's hot, and what works. They bring energy, wit and a constant reservoir of fresh ideas that reflect the latest industry trends. Our culture is friendly, down-to-earth, and supportive. Here, professors become peers, friends become family, and relationships continue long after school.

When you join one of our programs, get ready to throw out all you think you know about IST. If you think you will be sitting at a PC all day banging out code, think again. We have designed a fast-paced, immersive learning experience where no two days are the same, and there isn't enough time in the day to do all you want to do. We believe that innovation is born from a process of surprise and discovery, of starting in one place, and ending up someplace totally different. Ask our students to describe our program, and they'll often say one word--“Intense!” But of course, they mean that in a good way!

The rigorous study of underlying principles. Lively discussions and brainstorms on problem solving. An emphasis on project teamwork and independent inquiry. Hands-on, sleeves-up, burn-the-midnight oil and order-a-pizza marathons of inspiration. The learning experience of a lifetime.

Expect IT at RIT!
