MS in SD&M Overview

Succeed with IT.

Every software development project is a complex mix of tools, data, processes, infrastructure technologies, and people. Budgets are tight, lead times keep getting shorter, and yet software development managers must still produce a quality product within strict guidelines.

The MS in Software Development and Management program is designed to help IT professionals succeed. It investigates contemporary and classical approaches to enterprise-wide software development with an emphasis on improving outcomes. The underlying principle of this program is that software development is a manageable process. It arms IT professionals with the skills they need to find solutions to software problems through sound managerial methodology and the reasoned application of technology. Our curriculum includes current programming environments, software development processes, and management techniques that address the issues faced by software development professionals at the enterprise level.

Graduates of this program are able to compete effectively in an industry that is challenged by issues such as the redesign of infrastructure, personnel changes, and outsourcing. Whatever software development issue you encounter in the future—this program is designed to give you a comprehensive foundation for managing people and technologies, through a problem-solving approach that can be applied to a variety of situations.
