Program Requirements

The Master of Science in Human-Computer Interaction (MS/HCI) is a 52 quarter-credit hour graduate program comprised of:

  • A set of 5 core courses
  • 4 advanced electives for depth in the HCI discipline
  • 2 application domain electives, in an area of the student’s choice, to which HCI concepts can be applied
  • An 8-credit graduate capstone experience

Advanced Program Electives

To gain depth in this technical field, MS/HCI students select four (4) courses (16 credits) of upper-level electives within the areas of interface and interaction design, usability engineering, or interface architecture. See the program handbook (link below) for more details.

Application Domain Electives

To provide breadth in a subject area relevant to human-computer interaction, students choose two (2) courses (8 credit hours) from an application domain area such as website development, application development, etc. See the program handbook (link below) for more details.

Availability

The program is offered both on-campus and, with selected electives and application domains, in online learning format. Students can study either full- or part-time.
