MS in Learning and Knowledge Management Systems

Capture IT.

The term “knowledge worker” was coined in 1959. Back then, no one could have foreseen the information explosion of the past few decades. Today, knowledge, media, and information are all valuable “products” in the corporate world. The need to capture, share and disseminate them has resulted in a rapidly growing area in the IT industry—e-Learning and knowledge management.

The M.S. in Learning and Knowledge Management Systems enables students to advance their careers in business, academia, and government. Positions in this field include Instructional Designer, e-Learning Specialist, Knowledge Management Analyst, Content Developer, and e-Learning Web Developer, to name a few. Our program features advanced skills such as the hands-on development of computer-based instruction, instructional design, database, programming, simulations, XML, and program evaluation.

In addition, students learn design skills that enable them to develop instructional programs and materials, as well as computer-based knowledge objects that codify knowledge for reuse, and a variety of technology methods (such as databases and prototyping tools ). Through a hands-on projects, students design and build knowledge capture, sharing, and management systems. Finally, they learn how to gather data and evaluate systems and programs.

A 4-course Advanced Certificate in Learning and Knowledge Management is also available.
