copyright discussions
Last night, after our copyright discussion in class, I went home and turned on the news—only to see a special report on the RIAA’s recent lawsuits against file swappers.
Some other interesting things I encountered today on the topic are posts by an influential Internet writer, David Weinberger, and a Japanese venture capitalist and entrepreneur, Joi Ito.
These are not required readings…just some interesting food for thought.
More on the RIAA
In case you think you’re too small a target for the RIAA to come after you for file sharing violations, take a look at this USA Today article about a 12-year-old girl in NYC whose family will be paying $2,000 to settle the lawsuit brought against her by the industry association.
On the lighter side, the September 7th version of the UserFriendly comic strip is a spoof version of a “RIAA Personal File Sharing Amnesty Form.”
