Personal Web Site 1 (10 December 2004)
Create a 409 directory in your www directory on grace, and in it an index.html page from which you will link all subsequent assignments. (The url to the page should be http://www.rit.edu/~yourid/409/ .) The page must include a picture of yourself and your name, and should include a link to your weblog, as well as placeholders for links to your midterm and final personal projects and your group project. It should use valid code--ideally XHTML and CSS.
Do your best to use the principles of design you learned in 320; I want to see the best you can do (that does not mean putting in every type of bell and whistle you can imagine; keep it simple and clean!)
This will be an ungraded assignment that I'll use as an assessment of your current coding and design skills, in order to assign you to an appropriate project group. You will get feedback on it, but it will not affect your final grade. (Failure to submit it at all, however, or evidence that you spent little time or effort on it, will affect your participation grade.)
Please have the site done by noon on Friday, December 10th. Post the URL for the site as a comment here. (The best way to do it is to put the URL in the URL field for the comment.)
Excerpt: If you've gotten here...it hopefully means that you've been through my website. If thats the case, I am always interested in feedback. If you happen to find any errors or just fee like dropping me a line about something...Please just...

Excerpt: Well, my website is finally done. I'm not sure if I quite like it, but I never really like the appearance of things done with CSS... pages made with CSS always seem so structured.

Posted by: Kevin Sweeney on December 1, 2004 8:15 PM | Permalink to CommentYay for getting stuff done ahead of time! I don't know a whole lot of CSS yet, so this is pretty simple, but I like the way it turned out. I had decided to do a "grayscale" theme before Prof. Lawley mentioned it in class, so I didn't steal the idea, honest! :)
