MIdterm Exam ( 7 April 2005)
This is a take-home midterm. Answers to each of the questions below should be at least 1,500 1000 words in length. Please see the grading guidelines I posted earlier this quarter for a sense of what I'm looking for in your answers.
- Identify at least one way in which the readings and discussions thus far in the course have changed your view or opinion of some aspect of technology that you were already familiar with. Explain and provide examples.
- The readings from both week 2 and week 5 share some common threads and concepts. What would you say those are? How do you think those ideas can influence technology development and use? Is that a good thing? Why or why not?
- Many students in IT fail to see the connections among our fairly disparate areas of study--networking, programming, database, web development, game programming, HCI, etc. Which of the readings this quarter have helped you to draw connections among two or more of these fields and see ways in which they interrelate? Explain.
Your answers should be submitted as .rtf or Microsoft Word documents to my inbox in the Files section of myCourses, no later than 7:00am on Wednesday, April 13th.
