Ah, the backlogs. So many games I have yet to get to. I actually have a good number of games that I never got around to finishing and a few that I haven't really started yet. This is largely an issue of time and attention span. I tend to "sample" a variety of games. This means for the longer games I often loose interest before reaching the end of the game. In fact, most of the games I haven't finished are rpg games (Neverwinter Nights, Arcanum, Dungeon Seige, Morrowind...). I enjoy them, but they tend to be notoriously long and I usually tire of the level grind and other repetive details before the story finishes. Instead, I often switch games or hunt down things like freeware and interactive fiction to keep me entertained. I guess I need to see some combitation of persistant consequences, growth, new elements, and/or a steady supply of action/activity.

Anyhow, on to games currently out that I want to pick up. Sims 2 is looking pretty nice, and has an almost scary level of complexity. I think it's the series could open things up for more social games, as opposed to the action types that currently dominate the market. That being said, I did also have an eye on Fable. However, I'm a little disappointed that the "you can be anything" really just breaks down to a morality scale and a skill triangle. I was hoping for something with a bit more emergent behavior. Jade Empire looks very nice, but they haven't released it for the PC, so I'm kinda stuck there. In addition to this influx of modern games, I am hunting down a copy of the Leisure Suit Larry series. What can I say, despite some frustrating episodes, I'm kinda fond of the adventure games.

Here are 10 games I’d still like to play…

1. M.U.L.E. — I’ve read so much about this game, and about the tremendous contributions to the games industry of its author, Dani Bunten Berry. I’d like to experience this classic game just once.
2. Super Metroid — I've loved every Metroid game I've ever played, and I’ve heard this is one of the best games ever.
3. Super Mario Kart — Another SNES game. Nope, never had one. I’ve heard that this is another classic.
4. Super Mario 2: Yoshi’s Island — I love Yoshi, and I’ve heard this is the best of the old Mario games.
5. Super Mario RPG — Yep, another ‘Super’ SNES game. I missed a lot.
6. Ico — have heard many nice things about this game, such as it’s a work of art. Art is good, especially if it’s a game.
7. Halo — just because everyone else has played it, and because it can’t be as bad as they say it is. =P
8. Fable — I like the idea of how your actions influence your environment; and I'd also like to see what veteran game designer Peter Molyneux has done with the game.
9. Star Wars: KOTR — Because I’ve heard it is fantastic.
10. Battlefield 1942 — Again, because I’ve heard it is such a remarkable game.

Heres my list of 10 games that I haven't gotten around to playing yet, either because they're not out on PC, or due to budget or time issues:

1. TEKKEN 5 - Still waiting for this one to hit arcades. I've been a HUGE fan of the Tekken series and can't wait to check out the new characters and mods of existing characters that this version is gonna bring to the table

2. CITY OF HEROES - I'm a huge comic book fan, so this game is gonna be pure gold for me. I also think its a very interesting concept, and wouldn't mind seeing a comic series based on the game.

3. DOOM 3 - Doom made my top 10 of all time list, but I hated Doom 2. They really took their time making Doom 3, so I really hope it was worth the wait and that they've done some innovative stuff and not made this game just another run of the mill 3D Shooter

4. TRANSFORMERS - A dream come true for long time fans of the franchise. The graphics look great. Can't wait for the PC version

5. XIII - I like the whole comic book feel atmosphere of the game and think the animation looks really cool.

6. WOLVERINES REVENGE - This ones been on my list for a long time, guess I just forgot about it for a while. The graphics didnt look amazing and I didnt see a whole lot of great reviews , but I'm going to play it anyway because Wolverine is one of the coolest characters I've ever seen in comics, games, movies, anywhere.

7. SIMS - I'm generally not a fan of this genre of game. I prefer 3d shooters or fighting games, but this game got so many people on my floor in freshman year so addicted that I guess its worth a shot

8. SID MEIERS ALPHA CENTAURI - I really loved Sid Meiers Civilization 2, (one of the few strategy games I've ever loved). Actually, I did play this game once, then let it sit on my PC for a while before deleting it because I wasn't getting enough time to play it. Gotta remember to reinstall it sometime soon (now if I could only find that CD...)

9. ENTER THE MATRIX - The game looked really cool and I'm sure theres an awesome cast of characters in it. Only reason I havent bought this one yet is because it came out arouND the same time that the Hulk came out, and I ended up buying the Hulk instead.

10. KILLSWITCH ENGAGE - I've only seen the ads for this game, but was instantly impressed with the innovativeness of finding and using cover to manouver around in the game. Anyone know if this is out on PC ?

My top 10 list is pretty much based on the two facts. One would be that I have not finished playing the prequel to the game, or second would be that I am too busy to dedicate enough time to play the game through. Finnaly, sometimes I havent played the game yet, because its not out yet :)

1. Final Fantasy X-2 - The first one was great.
2. X-Men Legends - I always loved X-Men, and this game looks amazing!
3. Star Ocean - I heard its one of the best RPG's out now
4. Paper Mario - Heard great things, but I dont have an N64
5. Doom 3 - Amazing, but I dont have a computer to run it with
6. Gran Turismo 4 - Waiting patiently for it to come out
7. Half Life 2 - I've been waiting for this for years now
8. Super Smash Brothers Melee - I suck at it, so I dont play, but I want to
9. Fable - I havent had the time to dedicate to this, but I wouldnt mind doing it
10. Crimson sea - It looks amazing!

I am planning on playing some of these now, since I just bought a desktop PC again, and I am going to try to make free time to spend to get to some of them. Hopefully :)

The ten games I haven't played and wish I had? Hmm... I'm going to try to avoid games that haven't come out yet or are extremely recent. That's not completely possible but...

1) The Final Fantasy games that came out for Playstation - I was crushed when Squaresoft started making Final Fantasy for the Playstation. I didn't have one. I haven't been able to play any of the more recent Final Fantasy games and really wish I had/could.

2) XIII - I think I'll list this game too. I'd sorta forgotten about it, but now that I'm reminded, it was a game that I was very curious about when it came out and didn't have the time to buy or rent. The cartoonish style is interesting and who knows, it might actually have a decent storyline!

3) The Silent Hill Series - First off, I am a big fan of the psychological horror type games. Res Evil and all that. This is just another type of that game. I've gotten some looks at it and I think I would love every one, but alas, I don't have the proper systems to play the games typically, or I just haven't had time.

4) The Sims2 - it's a series I haven't played yet, but it gets such rave reviews and everyone I know that has it loves the game. I'm always been a big fan of the "sim" games too, so I'm sure I'd like it, I just haven't had the time to go out and buy the game. It's also the type of game that requires you put in alot of time to it, something I also find hard to do right now.

5) Ninja Gaiden (for Xbox) - I suppose that this game can go on here, I don't think it's THAT recent a game. But I owned all the original ones for the NES and played them alot. I think I owe it to the series to try out the newest version of the game.

6) Final Fantasy Tactics - It's a final fantasy game, which I like AND it's got some sort of strategy involved. I love strategy type games. Now this is a game I just again, never got around to, for economic and time reasons.

7) Kingdom Hearts - Does this pick shock you? I don't see why. I think almost all of Diney's animated movies are fantastic. I have no idea whether the game is any good or not or if I'd even like it. For all I know it might be WAY to easy or kiddie or something for me. But the concept is great I think, going into the Disney World to meet the characters, go to the worlds and fight the villians. It'd at least be worth it just to hear the voice overs.

8) DOOM3 - I hear good things. I have always been a fan of the DOOM games, they have never let me down. The graphics look awesome. End of story.

9) GTA - Now before you look at me that way, I will say I HAVE played the game a few times. But I haven't really PLAYED the game. I don't own it, and I haven't sat down and played it through from start to finish myself. And I really want to, my friends all love it and it's a game that I know would totally appeal to me. Running around, stealing cars, shooting things, blowing stuff up... things I could never do in real life but in a video game, all I'm doing is harming pixels.

10) HALO2 - I'm gonna end with HALO2 of course. I loved the original and everything I see about the sequel seems great. New vehicles, new story, new weapons. I'm particularlly interested to see how the duel gun system works. Perfect Dark tried the same thing, with some success, but HALO2 apparently lets you actively choose which gun is in which hand. This also makes the ability to throw grenades different and more of a timing thing. That's going to effect gameplay alot I think. But I'm fired up for the sequel, can't wait.

So that's the list! It was actually alot harder than I thought. Mostly, if I want to play a game, if it looks interesting, I just go out and play it, I don't sit around wishing. It's something you almost have to be IN the video games store walking around looking at the titles to do.

Since I play EQ my time is mostly devoted to this game so I don't have very many (read none) other games on my computer. I have bought a few games that I never got around to playing because of it though.

1) Castlevania: Lament of Innocence - Have this from last Christmas, still in the packaging, never played. I love Castlevania though so I want to play it.

2) DBZ Budokai 2: I had fun with the first one, granted it had flaws, you can't jump?, but the speed the game was played at made it intense.

3) LOTR Two Towers: Also still in the packaging for PS 2, just haven't found the time or drive to play it.

4) .Hack 4: I love the TV show and beat the first three, haven't had time to buy and play the last one.

5) Super Smash Brothers Melee: I was really good at this game once, not playing it for so long has made me rusty, I'd like to pick it up again.

6) Doom 3: My machine probably can't run it :-\.

7) Fable: I heard it's really short in class, but the whole decision effecting the game still holds my interest.

8) Sims: I just want to see what it's like since it focuses on completely social aspect of online games.

9) Mario Kart 64 or for the SNES: I was really good at both of these, I'd love to be that good again.

10) Rampage or Castlevania on Nintendo, long, but were still a lot of fun.
