Seminar in Designing Physical Interactive Experiences
This course will focus on building interactive experiences in the (away from a desktop) world from goal to concept to prototype. Creating these carefully-considered prototypes will be founded on existing work in interactive installations, human cognitive psychology, communication theories, experience design, user testing, and basic sensor-actuator electronics/software. At the beginning of the quarter, students will study people in a particular context, and decide how they would like to change that experience for a particular audience. The rest of the quarter will be devoted to designing, refining, testing and building a prototype to accomplish that change.
Required Equipment
Teleo Polyblocks are available in the Campus Bookstore in the [database?] area.
While there is no required textbook, we will be using readings from handouts and websites throughout the class.
